Marinette Pichon has football in her skin from an early age. Raised by a courageous mother who has to face an abusive husband, she overcomes the difficulties and forges an unfailing determination. While she juggles odd jobs and a sports career, she is selected for the France team and then spotted by a major American club. Marinette then arrives with her mother in the United States, pursuing the dream of becoming the best player in the world.

Sportsmarketing.fr went to “Studio 28” near Montmartre, for the preview of the biopic “Marinette” which will be released in cinemas on Wednesday June 7 (and which we recommend!). A very moving film that tackles many societal issues, well beyond football. Special mention for Marinette Pichon, of course, and for the accuracy of Garance Marillier’s interpretation. We were able to chat with Irène Bloch, head of sponsorship, partnerships and events for the Crédit Agricole Group, who is supporting the film.

Bruno Cammalleri: What is the role of Crédit Agricole vis-à-vis the film Marinette?

Irene Bloch : We are a partner of the film. Crédit Agricole has been a partner of women’s football for over 20 years. In 2002, we started supporting women’s football and in 2010 we got involved alongside the FFF. Marinette Pichon is a personality, a footballer with an incredible journey that we have known and supported for a long time. It is therefore quite natural for us to be in support of this film because the values it carries are values in which we believe: inclusion, diversity, equal opportunity.

Bruno Cammalleri: Why should you go see this film?

Irene Bloch : it’s a very beautiful film, which tells the story of Marinette Pichon. It is a completely extraordinary journey that is crossed by several very strong and very committed societal subjects. This film is very moving. He is also very well embodied with Garance Marillier who interprets the role of Marinette with great accuracy. It’s a football movie but it’s not about football. It’s a women’s film, but it’s not just about women. It really is a very inspiring film.

Bruno Cammalleri: Crédit Agricole’s commitment to sport is also in the “Sport as a School of Life” program…

Irene Bloch : In 2017 we launched the “Sport as a School of Life” program. This program represents our vision of sport. For us, sport conveys strong values that we share, team and individual sports. The main idea behind “Sport as a School of Life” is to make sport accessible to everyone everywhere. It is this story that we believe in and that we want to tell.
