It was time for Mr. Kasselakis to bring out the Varoufakis that is hiding inside him, Pavlos Marinakis said during the briefing, answering a question regarding Attica Bank and the announcements of the president of SYRIZA on the matter.
“It was time for Mr. Kasselakis to come out of the Varoufakis that is hiding inside him. The most impressive thing is that he is talking regarding a deal that has not yet been closed and has not been announced and he has made so many announcements regarding something he has not seen. That alone is worth mentioning. It is worth dwelling on this”, as Mr. Marinakis observed.
“The last time SYRIZA dealt with the banks was when the banks were closed. At a time when they were in pain for the money of the Greek taxpayers, they were burdened with some 200 billion with their actions,” he added.
“Because SYRIZA wants us to talk regarding Attica Bank, to remember that it was once SYRIZA Bank and a very large part of the 80 million euros of Attica Bank’s damage comes from its own manipulations. We don’t want to have paraphilological discussions, but when we see the leader of the official opposition making announcements regarding an agreement that has not yet been announced, we are forced to remember them first and then to remember all this,” he pointed out.
“In any case, Mr. Kasselakis should not worry. We don’t want these days to hear expressions like “my love, I closed the banks”. Unfortunately this was heard at the time. We don’t want to see depositors struggling, suffocating or being overnight on the street once more. We will not allow this and we certainly will not allow any agreement that harms the public interest,” he said.
“This agreement that will be announced will be in the interest of the public, in the interest of depositors and in the interest of the banking system and its strengthening in terms of transparency. I think that if you look at the agreement, from the first elements without knowing the final facts, you will understand, if you compare it with previous ones, that there has obviously never been an occasion during the days of this government to sign something that will not be in the interest citizens, taxpayers and the public interest and in any case I do not understand what the counter proposal is. The counter proposal is to bust the banks? To burden the state with many billions, so the Greek taxpayer? Is there a counter proposal? There is no. There is a cheap populism that refers to one of the most powerful presences of SYRIZA, who brought us to the brink, Mr. Varoufakis. “Now, Varoufakis has become Kasselakis,” said the government representative.
