Marilyn Manson will plead not guilty in the case which pits him once morest a concert videographer on whom he allegedly spat. This plea will allow the singer to avoid a trial which was to begin next month.
Susan Fountain had accused Manson of first spitting on her and then blowing her nose while she was filming her concert in Gilford, New Hampshire on Aug. 19, 2019. He faced two misdemeanor assault charges related to the incident.
According to the Associated Press, if Manson had been tried, he would have been sentenced to prison and fined $2,000 on each count. In the end, the misdemeanor for spitting should be dropped but instead, Manson will have to pay a fine of 1200 dollars and perform 20 hours of community service for the “misdemeanor blowing nose”.
All of the above is subject to a judge’s acceptance of the plea of no contest at a hearing Thursday (July 20) in Belknap County Superior Court. It is not yet known whether Manson will appear in person or via video to plead his case.
A statement issued at the time by Manson’s attorney, Howard King, read: “Anyone who attends a Marilyn Manson concert knows he is defiant on stage, especially in front of the camera.“
“This minor infraction complaint arose following the venue’s cameraman sued us for over $35,000 because she received a little spit on her arm during the concert. We asked for evidence of possible damage but never received a response.”
“This lawsuit is ridiculous, but we want to cooperate with the authorities as we always have.”
Regardless of this case, Manson faced numerous lawsuits and accusations from a number of women accusing him of sexual abuse. In February 2021, his ex-fiancée Evan Rachel Wood claimed he had “horribly abused” from her for years, prompting other women to come forward to tell their own stories of abuse.
Game of Thrones actress Esme Bianco has since finalized a sexual assault lawsuit once morest Manson, while Ashley Morgan Smithline’s case was thrown out following the model said she was manipulated by Wood into making accusations once morest the singer that weren’t true.
