The candidate for Québec solidaire in the Marie-Victorin by-election, Shophika Vaithyanathasarma, tested positive for COVID-19 on the eve of the advance poll.

“I tested positive for COVID. I am placing myself in isolation and people in close contact with me have been notified, I have mild symptoms, ”she said on Twitter on Saturday.
The former Bloc member will therefore have to campaign from home for the next five days.
Earlier in the campaign, caquiste Shirley Dorismond had carried out a PCR test and had isolated herself while awaiting her result, which ultimately turned out to be negative.
The news comes the day before advance voting, which is scheduled for Sunday and Monday in the constituency. Voters will also be able to go to the polls on election day, April 11, to choose between the 12 candidates in the running.
