Marie’s own voice rang out
“Keno” profiles Tommy Wahlgren expressing the whole island’s love for Marie.
– I will remember Marie as a great cultural personality on all levels. We miss her, all of Gotland misses her, he says.
The black coffin was decorated with a large bunch of red roses and all around were bouquets and greetings from friends and family.
The funeral service was held by the Rev Anna Lundgren who is a childhood friend of the Nilsson family and was initiated with Benny Andersson’s “Consolation poem”. Together the congregation sang hymn 256 “Don’t be afraid” and hymn 249 “Just one day”.
– Much in Marie’s life was regarding love, to her siblings, to her nieces and nephews, to her prince Magnus, her north and south, love for her audience. But she also had a longing to be loved herself. “Love me for who I am,” said Anna Lundgren.
Carried out to “Amazing grace”
The speakers in the church played Marie Nilsson Lind’s “Calling Heaven”, an interpretation of Avicii and Daniel Adams-Rays song “Somewhere in Stockholm” which she performed in “So much better” in 2021.
A women’s choir later sang “Love me” and the Gotland classics “Gunatt siv gutt” and “Ändlaus veisu”. The coffin is carried out to the tune of “Amazing grace”.
