Marie Kondo, popularly known as “the queen of order”, confessed in her latest book that it is no longer as easy for her to follow her own advice as before.
The woman, who gave birth to her third child in 2021, confesses in Kurashi at Marie Kondo’s house: how to organize your space and achieve your ideal life that she “gave up” and can’t apply the cleaning method she created herself.
In dialogue with The Washington Post, the Japanese reference said that “maintaining a minimalist house” adorned with elements that only “awaken joy” is an increasingly unattainable goal considering her family.
“I did my best to keep my house tidy at all times. But I ended up giving up. Now I realize that what is important to me is enjoying time with my children at home,” Kondo said, continuing: “Since I had my third child, my hands were too busy to sort things out like I used to. My house is messy… But I feel that the way I spend my time now is the right one if I take into account the stage of life I’m going through”.
“The real purpose of decluttering is not to reduce your possessions or clear up your space. The ultimate goal is to awaken joy every day and lead a happy life. Ordering means taking care of all the ‘things’ in your life, ”she added.
