Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville, anesthesia-resuscitation specialist, has just received a prestigious distinction. The professor of the CHU of Liège received, on the occasion of the national holiday, the rank of Commander of the Order of Leopold by King Philippe.
Born in 1952, she began her career as a research fellow at the FNRS, then a hospital specialist where, as an anesthesiologist-resuscitator, she took responsibility for the Department of Major Burns and Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery at the University Hospital of Liège.
Specialist in hypnosedation
Appointed head of clinic then head of service-associate in the Department of Anesthesia-Resuscitation, she not only carried out an important clinical load but also developed in 1992 a new anesthesia technique: hypnosedation. This original approach has been evaluated by retrospective and prospective clinical studies, studies giving rise to multiple publications in national and international journals allowing the completion of end-of-studies dissertations, license dissertations, a doctoral thesis and a higher education aggregation thesis.
Marie-Elisabeth Faymonville has been directing the Pain Center since 2004 and actively participates, as a referring doctor, in the Mobile Palliative Care Team at the University Hospital of Liège, in addition to being coordinator of the OASIS well-being centre.
