Mariandrée Chacón is the third sprinter in history for Guatemala in the Olympics – 2024-07-22 13:02:56

Chacón’s presence in Paris 2024 is an incentive in a distance that is very difficult to master, and in the men’s category Guatemala has not had a representative. The closest one was Mario Blanco, from Izabal, on the road to the 2004 Athens Olympics.

It’s very exciting, because competing in the Olympic Games is the most important event an athlete can reach. “I still think this is all a dream,” says the 19-year-old athlete, who will travel to France next Wednesday.

The national team member was the last to join the delegation of 16 athletes who will represent the blue and white colors at the Parisian games, which will be inaugurated on July 26 with a parade on the River Seine.

Chacon cI knew, since April, the possibility of making the dream of being at the Paris 2024 Olympics come true, But it was not until July 15 that the Guatemalan Olympic Committee and the National Athletics Federation notified him of the news.

The sprinter received a letter of universal recognition for being number one in the Guatemalan ranking in the 100 meters, where she holds the national record with 11 seconds 66 hundredthsas well as in the 200 metres with a time of 23.72; in both cases they were in the hands of Schumann.
