Mariah Carey is a diva and a living legend. Last June, the singer was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and continues to collect approximately $2.6 million in royalties each year for All I Want for Christmas is You, her 1994 hit. Given her very glamorous, rhinestone and sequin style and image, it’s no surprise that the pop star’s decorating tastes are just as glitzy. In 2001, AD had visited his Art Deco triplex in Tribeca, which the following year had made the show happy MTV Cribs. Twenty years later, the star is making waves once more in real estate by putting up for sale a property worth $6.5 million in Atlanta.
Perched on nearly two acres of private land atop a hill near the upscale neighborhood of Buckhead, the red-brick Colonial-style home was built in 1951 and is home to no less than nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms and five bathrooms on an area of 1200 m2. Mariah only bought the property last November for $5.65 million, but has already had time to put her own stamp on it, including adding a private recording studio on the third floor. It also boasts, among other glamorous novelties, an abundance of crystal chandeliers, a pink walk-in closet with matching pink powder room, and a master suite with its own bespoke walk-in closet, wet bar, fireplace and private patio.
Crown molding, coffered ceilings, and arched doorways abound throughout the home, which also includes a large white marble kitchen, paneled library, movie theater, and gym. Patio doors provide lots of light and open onto the backyard, which has a tennis court, swimming pool and ample outdoor space for relaxing and entertaining.
Shanna Bradley of Ansley Real Estate Christie’s International in Atlanta is in charge of the future transaction.
