The Cultural Center “Grammes Technis” (Maisonos 271, Patras), welcomed on Saturday, November 2, 2024 the play “Maria Polydouri”, directed by Yiannis Nicolaidis and text by Vivi Kopsida-Vretto.
The show-tribute to the great Greek poetess, was performed with respect and in the best way, by Fotini Filosofou who, with the help of the director Yiannis Nicolaidis in the role of the living narrator, charmed the audience with their performances.
The continuation was given in the welcoming area of the foyer where the spectators had the opportunity to meet and chat with the participants, but also with the production team and the partners of Cdriva ProdActions which has taken over the management of the Art Lines.

**Interview with Yiannis Nicolaidis, Director of ”Maria Polydouri”**
**Editor:** Thank you for joining us, Yiannis. Let’s dive into the recent performance of “Maria Polydouri” at the Cultural Center “Grammes Technis.” Can you tell us what inspired you to direct a play about Maria Polidouri?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** Thank you for having me. Maria Polidouri is one of Greece’s most celebrated poets, and her life story is as compelling as her work. Her tumultuous relationship with Kostas Kariotakis adds layers of emotional depth to her poetry. I wanted to create a tribute that resonates with both her literary contributions and the poignant aspects of her personal life.
**Editor:** The performance was described as a show-tribute. How did you ensure that it was delivered with the respect and integrity it deserves?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** It was crucial to approach this material with sensitivity. I worked closely with my cast, especially Fotini Filosofou, to embody Polidouri’s essence authentically. We delved into her poetry and personal letters to capture the spirit of her experiences and emotions. Our goal was to create a connection between the audience and her life.
**Editor:** Can you share some of the reactions from the audience after the performance?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** The response was overwhelmingly positive. Many audience members expressed how they felt an emotional connection to Maria’s struggles and triumphs. It was gratifying to see people moved by the performance, as it reflects both her artistic legacy and the universal themes of love and loss.
**Editor:** The show was part of the reopening of the “Art Lines” venue. What does this mean for the cultural landscape of Patras?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** The reopening is an exciting chapter for Patras. With “Art Lines” under new management, it will become a hub for various cultural events. Our performance is just the beginning. The venue aims to foster creativity across multiple artistic forms, from theater to music, and provide a space for community engagement.
**Editor:** What can the public expect from upcoming performances and events at “Art Lines”?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** We have a diverse lineup planned, with more theatrical productions, musical events, and workshops aimed at all age groups. Our vision is to create an inclusive space that inspires creativity and brings the community together.
**Editor:** Thank you, Yiannis, for sharing your insights. Any final thoughts for those who have yet to see “Maria Polydouri”?
**Yiannis Nicolaidis:** I encourage everyone to come and experience the play. It’s not only a tribute to a remarkable poet but also a chance to reflect on the complexities of love, art, and identity. Join us in celebrating Maria’s timeless legacy!
**Editor:** Thank you, Yiannis. We look forward to seeing more artistic endeavors at “Art Lines.”
