BIA: Cubans with I-220A do not have the right to reside in the United States
The U.S. Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) decided that Cubans with a Form I-220A “Parole Order” would not have right to permanent residence under the Cuban Adjustment Act.
María Elvira Salazar was one of the first political figures to criticize the decision, arguing that it is impossible to leave “nearly half a million Cubans in limbo.”
In May 2023, Congresswoman told who “personally” asked the Secretary of DHS, Cuban-American Alejandro Mayorkas, for a solution for all Cubans with this document.
“(…) with God’s help, we will be able to get you to take advantage of the Cuban Adjustment Act as millions of Cubans have done before. The United States deserves that sacrifice and deserves that you, those who entered with the I-220A, behave well, follow the rules and become prosperous, worthy and decent citizens of this great nation,” he said at that time.
