María del Carmen Alva: “There is not a single opinion poll where the Constituent Assembly is a priority”

The president of the Congress, Maria del Carmen Alvawas pronounced this Friday following the president’s announcement peter castle of the presentation of a bill to the Legislature to consult the population on the change of the constitution during the 2022 Regional and Municipal Elections.

In this regard, the head of the Constitution Commission of Congress, Patricia Juareztold RPP Noticias that the president’s initiative has “overtones of unconstitutionality” and that it only generates false expectations for citizens.

“The project is openly unconstitutional, there is no such way as the president intends to present it to the Congress to amend the Constitution. Again, it intends to generate a citizen expectation that does not correspond to our constitutional channels,” the legislator told RPP News Connection.
