Maria Corina Machado responds to offer of political asylum

Opposition leader María Corina Machado responded to the request for asylum that was offered by the Government of Costa Rica minutes ago.

On her X account, Machado expressed her gratitude for the approval of political asylum, but detailed her priorities amid the political tensions that are taking place in the country.

I am grateful for the generous hospitality of the Costa Rican government in response to the brutal repression of the Maduro regime against citizens defending the results of the July 28 presidential election.
Our priority is the protection of our colleagues…

“Our priority is the protection of our fellow asylum seekers at the Argentine Embassy,” Machado said. “My responsibility is to continue this fight with the people.”

The leader of Vente Venezuela finally thanked the Costa Rican government for the offer of asylum: “From Venezuela, thank you to the beloved people and government of Costa Rica.”
