Maria Corina Machado: “Persecuted Venezuelans will be free. This is unstoppable”

Opposition leader María Corina Machado arrived at the rally on Francisco de Miranda Avenue, in front of the Lido shopping center, to express that they will continue to fight for recognition of Edmundo González’s victory and respect for popular sovereignty expressed in the vote in the presidential elections of July 28.

“Here we are standing, each one of you speaking today for thousands of persecuted Venezuelans who will be free, because this is unstoppable. No democratic government has recognized the victory of Nicolás Maduro,” said Machado at the demonstration one month before the presidential elections.

The Venezuelan opposition leader, accompanied by other political leaders such as Delsa Solórzano, Juan Pablo Guanipa, César Pérez Vivas, Alfredo Ramos and Andrés Velásquez, reiterated that they will respect the will of the Venezuelans as expressed in the elections.

Under the slogan “Act kills a sentence”, the protesters They began to gather in support of the standard-bearer of the Democratic Unitary PlatformEdmundo González, from 11:00 am to comply with the call made by Machado.

Machado added that the government’s plan was to validate electoral fraud through the Supreme Court ruling, but neither Venezuela nor the rest of the world accepted it.

“What we have seen is the most brutal campaign of repression ever seen in history, which is why at this moment in the Organization of American States (OAS) the case of Venezuela is being discussed“, Machado said.

“There is no turning back”

The opposition leader said that the protests will continue to be held to show that there is no turning back until the will of the majority of Venezuelans is respected.

In this regard, he called on the Venezuelan Armed Forces to respect the Constitution and the decision of those who voted for change.

“I want to make a special mention of Perkins Rocha, Whose freedom has been taken away, but we are going to free all those detained.“I want to tell you that I am very proud of these political leaders who are with me today. They represent the nobility and courage of politics,” Machado said.

He also reiterated that with each passing day they are moving forward with a robust strategy that is working to achieve the goal of enforcing sovereignty and for Edmundo González to be recognized as the elected president of Venezuela.

“Now they say that the regime will not give in, we will make it respect the will of the people expressed on July 28. All united in one voice, those of us inside and outside Venezuela,” the opposition leader emphasized.

María Corina Machado’s speech ended with an invitation not only to sing, but to understand every word of the Venezuelan anthem.

“In the streets, in the houses, in the prisons where our persecuted people are, let it be heard in the barracks and in every corner of the world where there is a Venezuelan. We are going to assert our sovereignty,” said Machado before singing “Gloria al Bravo Pueblo.”
