Opposition leader Maria Corina Machado reported that the regime of Nicolás Maduro kidnapped the person who serves as her personal lawyer, the Venezuelan activist Perkins Rocha, who is recognized for his work as Legal Coordinator and representative of the Command for Venezuela before the National Electoral Council (CNE).

“The Nicolás Maduro regime has kidnapped my friend and comrade in arms, Perkins Rocha. A just, brave, intelligent and generous man. An exemplary Venezuelan. They want to bend us, to distract us and to terrify us. We continue forward, for Perkins, “For all the prisoners and persecuted, and for all of Venezuela. We will be free,” Machado said on Tuesday.
According to Maria Costanza Cipriani Rondón, the lawyer’s wife, she explained that Rocha has been missing since 11 a.m. on Tuesday. “My husband is not a criminal, he is just a citizen who yearns and fights for us all to live in freedom,” she said through X.
Although the Human Rights Committee of the Vente Venezuela party stated that “unidentified individuals” had forcibly taken Rocha, Venezuelan human rights activist Villca Fernández said that the legal advisor was captured by agents of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (Sebin) who would have transferred him to El Helicoide, a penitentiary center in Caracas.
This arbitrary detention adds to the more than 100 opposition activists who were detained during the electoral period and It takes place one day before the new march called by Machado for this Wednesday, August 28, one month after the controversial presidential elections of July 28, where the opposition claimed victory for its candidate Edmundo González Urrutia.

“Nor they presented any paperwork and ran off to hide behind their Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), subjected to tyranny, which has no say in this matter, to whitewash its fraudulent CNE,” said the leader regarding the ruling of the Venezuelan Supreme Court that ratified the reelection of Nicolás Maduro, a victory declared by the CNE.
