Opposition leader María Corina Machado spoke out from the Con Venezuela Campaign Command to reject the results issued in the first bulletin of the National Electoral Council (CNE) in the early hours of July 29.

“Venezuela has a new president-elect and it is Edmundo González Urrutia. We won and everyone knows it,” Machado said.

He added that they have more than 40% of the records that reflect the victory of the opposition candidate.

“We have 100% of the records issued by the CNE. All the information agrees that Edmundo González Urrutia obtained 70% of the votes,” said Machado.

Opposition candidate Edmundo González Urrutia accompanied the opposition leader during her speech and then expressed his position.

“We Venezuelans know what happened in today’s election, all the rules were violated to the point that not all the voting records have been delivered yet,” said Gonzalez.

The candidate also reiterated his message of reconciliation and peaceful change and said he was convinced that the vast majority of Venezuelans also aspire to it.

“Our fight continues and we will not rest until the will of the Venezuelan people is respected,” added the candidate of the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD).

The announcement was made minutes after the election results were announced by the president of the CNE, Elvis Amoroso, in which he named Nicolás Maduro elected with 5,150,092 million votes, which translates to 51.20% and an irreversible trend.

The opposition candidate, for his part, obtained 4,445,978 million votes, for a total of 42.2%, with 80% of the votes counted.

Petition to electoral witnesses

Machado also asked the members of the polling station and witnesses to continue sending minutes with which they can demonstrate the results they handle.

“In the coming days we will continue to announce the actions we will take to defend the truth, because we have said that until the end, it is until the end. And that will be when the truth and respect for popular sovereignty prevail,” said the leader.

He also requested that peace prevail during a civic celebration vigil so that all the figures from the polling stations could be obtained.

MUD Complaints

Irregularities in the electoral process

During the elections on Sunday, July 28, in several entities of the country, there were reports irregularities and incidentsespecially in Caracas.
