Renowned actress Margot Robbie and her husband, Tom Ackerley, are reportedly expecting their first child, sources told People magazine. The Australian actress and the British film producer, both 34, have been together since 2013 and tied the knot in a private ceremony in Byron Bay, Australia, in December 2016.

The couple met on the set of Suite Française, a World War II film in which Robbie acted and Ackerley worked as an assistant director. In addition to their personal relationship, the pair have also collaborated professionally, co-founding the production company LuckyChap Entertainment with Sophia Kerr and Josey McNamara. Their productions include I, Tonya, Birds of Prey and the recent Barbie.

Last month, Ackerley spoke to The Sunday Times regarding her work-life dynamic with Robbie, mentioning that they spend “24 hours a day together” and that everything has become one, with no barriers between the professional and the personal. As such, the pair seem closer than ever following the phenomenon of the Australian actress’ latest film.

Regarding the pregnancy news, People reports that the couple’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment, so there is no confirmation from them yet. However, recent images posted on social media are fuelling the rumours.

The Twitter account 21metgala revealed some photos showing the singer wearing a cropped top alongside Ackerley. In the photos, a looming belly can be seen, suggesting her pregnancy status, something that has quickly gone viral and generated a great deal of speculation on social media.

Various users and some media outlets began to debate the actress’s possible maternity. In the images, her style was perceived as the first in a series of maternity outfits that, according to projections, might be frequent in the coming months.

Ackerley was born on 13 June 1990 in Surrey and grew up in Guildford, England. The youngest of three children, he attended St George’s College in Weybridge and then Godalming College. He began his film career as an extra in the first three installments of the Harry Potter series, a fact that caught the attention of his wife Margot when they were first getting to know each other, as she considers herself a “Potterhead”.

After a career hiatus, he returned as a production assistant on films such as The Perfect Plan (2012) and Rush (2013). Between 2012 and 2016, he worked as an assistant director on several television series and films, including Pride, Suite Française, The Two Faces of January and Macbeth.

Meanwhile, Margot, Tom and Josey McNamara are also producing a live-action film based on the Monopoly board game under their LuckyChap Entertainment banner. The film will be distributed by Lionsgate and also produced by Hasbro Entertainment.

“I mightn’t imagine a better production team for this beloved and iconic brand than LuckyChap,” said Lionsgate representative Adam Fogelson. Robbie and Ackerley’s production company said: “Like all the best IP, this game has resonated around the world for generations, and we’re so excited to bring it to life.”

Following Barbie’s success at the global box office and its recognition by winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song, LuckyChap is also working on a film adaptation of The Sims, in collaboration with Vertigo Entertainment and with Kate Herron as director and co-writer. This adaptation is still in early development and no release date or cast has been announced.
