Marek Rudziński has just said goodbye to Polish ski jumping fans. Sunday’s competition in Planica, Slovenia was the last one he commented in his long career.

It was announced a few days ago that Eurosport journalist Marek Rudziński will stop commenting on ski jumping at the end of the 2023/2024 season.

– Marek Rudziński announced some time ago that the current season would be his last as a ski jumping commentator. However, this does not mean that he is completely saying goodbye to Eurosport. He will be one of the commentators during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games – informs Jakub Żychliński, responsible for Eurosport’s PR.

Marek Rudziński has been the voice of ski jumping on Eurosport for years, and in the last three seasons also on TVN. He formed a great duo with Igor Błachut, and his frequent “uhum” when confirming Błachut’s opinions or quick and usually accurate calculations of results will probably go down in the history of sports television.

– I agreed with my beloved wife that I would comment on competitions at home for her – he said on Eurosport, when asked if he would miss ski jumping. – This is a good time to leave the stage.

On Sunday following the competition, the station thanked Rudziński with a material in which the most important players and activists spoke regarding the commentator. The journalist was also presented with a symbolic statuette of a golden microphone.

Marek Rudziński returned to Eurosport in 2017, following working at Telewizja Polska. Previously, he worked at Eurosport from 2000 to 2012. Previously, from 1982, he was a journalist of the sports editorial office of Polish Radio. He started his journalistic career in “Głos Pracy” and “Sztandar Młodych”.

Before starting his journalistic career, he played basketball at the central level. He is the silver medalist of the Polish men’s basketball championship in 1976.

In addition to ski jumping and basketball, he commented on athletics and occasionally boxing and handball.
