Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, national badminton athlete, has officially decided to retire. He hung up his racket at the age of 33. He announced this decision via his personal Instagram social media account, Saturday (9/3).
“Thank You God for these 33 years! Today, at the age of 33, I decided to quit my professional badminton career,” said Gideon in his upload.
Gideon admitted that his 25 year career journey had been very happy. He retired full of gratitude for results that exceeded expectations.
“Being ranked number one is something that is very difficult to achieve. But God gave me even more than I imagined. Therefore, I close my career in the world of badminton with a satisfied and grateful heart,” he said.
He also thanked his colleagues who had played a part in his badminton career, especially Kevin Sanjaya and the late Markis Kido.
“I thank my partners, the late Kido, Kevin, and others. Thank you to my family who always support and encourage me. Thank you to Yonex, PBSI and the coaches,” said Marcus. (Z-11)
