After eleven seasons at PSG, Marco Verratti left the capital this summer following the arrival of Luis Enrique. In an interview with L’Equipe, the Italian midfielder presented the reasons given by the Spanish coach to push him towards the exit.
An era ended last summer at PSG. That of Marco Verratti, who arrived in 2012 from Pescara. Presented on the same day as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the Italian finally left a huge mark on the capital club. But the beautiful story ended on the sly this summer. After eleven seasons in Paris, Verratti was pushed out. Essentially by Luis Enrique according to the person concerned. “After the restart, I had an interview with the coach, he told me that I was not part of his plans. He is a very great coach, he is doing good things with PSG. I didn’t see it as a personal decision. (…) He wanted to change,” he said in an interview with The team.
Verrati not holding a grudge once morest Luis Enrique
“I think that in football, there aren’t many ‘good’ reasons. Everyone has their own vision of the game. I think Luis Enrique needed other players. I have nothing once morest him, we have had very good relationships. (…) Sometimes there are changes and that’s good too,” confided Verratti, not very bitter towards his short-lived coach.
Asked to leave the club, Marco Verratti then turned to Qatar, and Al-Arabi, while Barça and Bayern Munich had knocked on the door. “I wanted to have a different experience. I didn’t want to go to another team in Europe where I might have faced PSG. I wanted it to be my last team. I got this offer in Doha. Certainly the level is not the same but I take other pleasures: helping the championship grow, advising my teammates,” he confides to explain his choice.
