Zapping Onze Mondial EXCLUSIVE: Dayot Upamecano’s “Little Brother” interview!

Marco Verratti and PSG, more than 10 years of life together. Driven by the exit by Luis Campos and Luis Enrique, the Italian international joined Qatar and the Al-Arabi SC team. A few weeks following his farewell to the Parc des Princes, “little owls” spoke in a long interview given to the team. The 2020 European Champion did not fail to pay tribute to PSG fans.

“I think the supporters see if you give everything, if you wet the jersey. It doesn’t always turn out well, but they saw my intentions. I have never cheated. I didn’t do it for fun, but because it was my job, my passion since I was 4 years old. (…) My farewells? I was the first to be moved. Being there with my family, my children, it was strong. Not everyone makes eleven years on the same team! With training, matches, I saw all the PSG guys more than my family.”

A mutual love

Marco Verratti then returned to the long adventure with PSG. “You don’t make it eleven years on a team if you’re not in love.” I have had a lot of offers over the years and even if I was able to think, my priority has always been to stay here,” said the Italian before talking regarding his record of titles with Paris (30). ” I am proud. This is an incredible and collective figure. This means that we have succeeded in putting Paris where it deserves to be. I hope someone passes me, that will mean the club continues to win,” he noted.

His choice not to stay in Europe

The midfielder then spoke regarding his choice not to stay in Europe and to go to Qatar. “I wanted to have a different experience. I didn’t want to go to another team in Europe where I might face PSG. I wanted this to be my last team. I had this proposal in Doha. Certainly the level is not the same but I take other pleasures: helping the Championship grow, advising my teammates.”

Verratti affirms, he might still have brought to PSG

If Luis Enrique did not count on him, Marco Verratti is convinced that he might have helped PSG. “I know what I am capable of, I still trained for two months with them. In the last days, there were even players who practically begged me to stay. It’s the greatest recognition, from people who see you every day, know what you can give. The same for all the coaches I had: when they left Paris, they wanted me to go play for their team,” the midfielder said for the sports daily.

Hygiene of life, Verratti’s answers

Criticized for his lifestyle, Marco Verratti spoke regarding his subject which was discussed for a long time during his Parisian adventure. “It’s my way of being. For me, football has always been a game. Afterwards, I have a life. The pleasures I had were going to a restaurant, having a glass of wine when there was no training. There are players who hide, I have always assumed responsibility, in life as well as on the pitch.”

“I think people like me a little bit for that too: they see that I’m normal. I knew the times when I might eat with my friends, go out clubbing when I was younger. I spent eleven years here, it’s normal that people came across me more than others. I’m not going to stay at home every day. I have always been very professional.

If all the coaches you have had, in Paris or in the selection, like you – and not for my personality, we are paid to perform well -, if you are still a starter in a club which has the possibility of buying the biggest players and recruits competitors every year, with coaches who don’t give gifts, it’s the best recognition, right? I have never been a minute late for training in eleven years,” concluded Marco Verratti for the team.
