Two Swiss on the Adelboden podium – Odermatt: “I just mightn’t let Henrik win”
The Swiss Marco Odermatt rocks the giant in Adelboden and enchants the fans who have traveled there. Only an extremely strong Henrik Kristoffersen screwed up a Swiss one-two, Loïc Meillard finished third.

Marco Odermatt’s Adelboden show is perfect. The Swiss giant dominator didn’t miss a beat on the “Chuenisbärgli” and showed two outstanding runs. Odermatt didn’t give Henrik Kristoffersen the slightest chance. The Norwegian lost 73 hundredths to the winner.
Loïc Meillard also showed a great performance, he also held his nerve. Meillard following the race: «I am very happy to be on the podium here in Adelboden. It’s just a great feeling.” For Meillard it is the third podium finish in the third discipline this winter. Meillard will compete in the slalom on Sunday.
Last year’s winner Marco Odermatt was celebrated at the finish line to the chants of the fans (“Go Odi go”). In an interview with Swiss television, he said: “It’s incredible, it worked once more. I drove very close to the limit because I knew I mightn’t let Henrik win. I just wanted to step on the gas.”
Gino Caviezel also showed a very good performance. The native of Graubünden lost 2.77 seconds and was 8th. Thomas Tummler was 19th, Daniele Sette was 23rd, Fadri Janutin was 26th. The Frenchman Victor Muffat-Jeandet had a bad fall.
