This is how Marco Odermatt is spending New Year’s Eve today – and that’s what he’s doing with all his trophies and medals

Marco Odermatt has a problem: he wins too many trophies. Where to put it? The Buochs ski star has found the solution. And he reveals how he celebrates New Year’s Eve.

Things could hardly be better for Marco Odermatt: giant slalom, super-G, downhill and overall classification – the superstar is currently in the lead in four World Cup classifications. The man from Nidwalden celebrates this in a special way on Instagram: He only wore start numbers and posted: “Topping all the rankings and starting the year 2024 with three red start numbers is fun.” He also wishes his 312,000 followers: “Happy New Year ????????????”

The many victories and podium places also bring with them many trophies and medals. Almost too many for Marco Odermatt – what to do with all the gold, silver and bronze? Well, the man from Buochs has found a pragmatic solution: “Only the winners’ trophies and gold medals are displayed in my children’s room. “I’ll put the prizes for second and third places in a display case from my outfitter Stöckli in Malters,” he recently told the «Blick».

He also revealed to the same newspaper how he will celebrate New Year’s Eve today – Odermatt is known not only for working hard and winning, but also for being able to enjoy life. And that’s exactly what he’s planning to do today: “I’m going to celebrate New Year’s Eve with a cool group in a holiday home in Engelberg.”

Odermatt truly deserves to celebrate a bit. In a week, things will get serious again: the Swiss races are coming up, starting on January 6th in Adelboden and from January 12th in Wengen. May the showcases in Odermatt’s children’s room be filled! (mme)
