On February 6, 2020 around 6:00 p.m., the staff of a Marche-en-Famenne telephone store had spotted the suspicious actions of three individuals. One of the employees then had the presence of mind to close the door in the face of one of them, with a concealed face, who wanted to enter the business probably to rob it. The employee had fallen to the ground. But the thugs had decided to turn back to get into a car, a Seat, where a fourth man was waiting for them. A description of the vehicle might be given. The individuals’ car was then spotted on the N63 heading towards Liège. The police set off following him, but it was nevertheless necessary to travel kilometers on the road to Condroz before this chase ended. And for good reason, it ended in Nandrin, at the height of the “roundregarding of the cows” when the Seat of the fugitives hit another vehicle.
On the run then on foot
The four occupants then managed to escape on foot. One was quickly picked up from a garden store. And a second was spotted a little later in a tree, freezing cold, following trying to hide in a greenhouse and then in the water. Subsequently, information reached the police gave the names of the two alleged fugitives who might not be found.
And more than three years following these facts, they were four, all from the Liège region, cited before the criminal court of Marche for this aborted robbery followed by a chase; to have to answer for attempted robbery with violence and malicious obstruction of traffic. The judgment has just been rendered. A defendant with a limited role remained in the car, namely the one taken up in a tree, a certain Kilvest Sufaj was sentenced to a 180-hour labor sentence. His confessions worked in his favor.
His co-defendants, Thiermo Bah and Hassan Khayat (defaulting defendant) are each sentenced to two years in prison.
As for the fourth defendant, even if he was able to evolve in an environment committing this type of robbery, the court considers that there is no proof of his participation for these facts and therefore acquits him.
