March. The photo of a rock in balance, taken by the Perseverance rover, intrigues Internet users

The images that come to us from Mars always impress. Either because they question the history of the red planet, or because they stimulate our imagination. This time it’s Perseverance’s turn to surprise us, reports Press-Lemon. Sunday June 12, 2022, NASA’s rover took a snapshot of an amazing rock formation. The photo was then shared on Twitter where it made Internet users react.

A cliché hijacked on the Internet

Scientifically, NASA is not going to get much from the image taken in the Jezero crater sector, which the rover has been crisscrossing since its arrival on Mars. But it must be admitted that two rocks are intriguing. One, on the right, evokes a bird’s beak or a serpent’s head. The other, at the bottom of the image, seems to be balanced on another large rock.

The snapshot has been described by astrobiologist David Grinspoon as “the most evocative photo of Mars”. Some Internet users have in any case had fun diverting it by placing well-known characters, such as Rafiki, the baboon from the cartoon Le Roi Lionor even Scrat, the squirrel of The Ice Agewhich would steal the stone in balance.
