Led by David McCormack, the University of Kansas Jayhawks defeated Villanova 81-65 to advance to the March Madness final on Saturday in New Orleans.
Favorite in the Midwest Division, Kansas scored the first seven points of the game. The Jayhawks then never looked back, even extending their lead to 19 points with four minutes to go in the first half.
The Wildcats rallied slightly afterward, but they were never able to threaten their opponents.
McCormack had 25 points and nine rebounds in the win. Ochai Agbaji also did well with 21 points, while Jalen Wilson recovered no less than 12 balls under the baskets.
Kansas will face the winners of the duel between Duke and North Carolina in the final. The institution will be in a first final since 2012 and will try to win a fourth title – a first since 2008.
