March 8: International Women’s Day

In commemoration of International Women’s Daythe Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN) reaffirms its commitment to promoting gender equality and the fight once morest discrimination.

The RNA expresses its recognition and support for all women in their diversityand especially, to the workers of the institution and women in the Argentine nuclear sector.

“We wish to highlight that the ARN has a strong commitment to gender equity, as one of the objectives of the ARN Strategic Plan 2021-2025. Equity recognizes that each person has different circumstances and allocates the exact resources and opportunities necessary to achieve “An equal outcome means fair treatment for women and men, according to their respective needs. This may include equal treatment or different treatment, whatever is considered equivalent in terms of rights, benefits, obligations and opportunities.”

About International Women’s Day

In 1977 the UN declared March 8 International Women’s Day with the objective of vindicating work for women’s rights and promoting their participation in different areas of society for their emancipation. The date commemorates the 129 textile workers at the Cotton factory in New York, United States, who died in 1857 as a result of a fire while striking to improve their working conditions.

The UN motto for this year is “Investing in women: accelerating progress”which takes this issue to highlight the lack of sufficient economic resources in gender matters. “Achieving gender equality and the well-being of women in all areas is more crucial than ever if we want to generate prosperous economies and achieve a healthy planet”highlighted the UN for
