March 11 in Vilnius: student awards, free tours and songs on the historic Table Mountain

From March 10 9 p.m. until March 11 at 2 p.m. parking will be prohibited on the part of Gynėjų Street from A. Tumėnos Street to Gediminas Avenue.

March 11 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. vehicular traffic will be prohibited on the part of Gediminas Avenue from A. Goštautos to J. Tumo-Vaižgant Street, as well as on the part of Gynėjų Street from Gediminas Avenue to A. Tumėnos Street.

Free public transport will run according to Saturday traffic schedules. During the March 11 processions, routes crossing Gediminas Avenue are available – 1G, 3G, 10, 11, 22, 33, 53, 73, 88, 89 buses and 2, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12, 17 trolleybuses route deviations from traffic schedules.

The program includes processions, performances and excursions

9 val. a flower-laying ceremony will be held at the “Žinia” monument dedicated to March 11 in Independence Square.

10–17 val. Events dedicated to the Day of the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence at the Seimas Visitor Center (Gedimino Ave. 60, Vilnius): creative workshops for children, knowledge quiz, video screening.

11 val. will be held in the Little St. Christopher’s sign awards ceremony for students of the capital in Vilnius town hall.

12 val. the ceremony of raising the flags of the three Baltic states will take place in Independence Square.

12–18 val. “March 11 Detective” will be held at the State Knowledge Center (entrance from Totorių str. 28, Vilnius). Interactive, educational games, creative workshops and open expositions and exhibitions of the center await the visitors.

12.30 val. a procession of the Honor Guard Company of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Lithuanian Armed Forces Orchestra will take place along Gediminas Avenue from Independence Square to Cathedral Square.

12.30 val. a festive procession “Road of Independence Restoration” will be held along Gediminas Avenue from Independence Square to Cathedral Square with Lithuanian and Ukrainian flag strips. On the way, the traditional procession will be resoundingly greeted by orchestras in the squares: in Žemaitė Square – the Pabradė Fanfarine Orchestra, in Lukiškių Square – the Big Band of the Lithuanian Army National Defense Volunteer Forces, in Vincos Kudirka Square – the wind instrument orchestra of the Vilnius Broniaus Jonuš Music School, in the Cathedral Square – the Lithuanian Army Orchestra.

12.35–17 val. open door hours will be held in the First Chamber of the Seimas in the Lithuanian Freedom Defenders and Stained Glass galleries. There will be performances by art groups, children’s creative workshops, screenings of short documentaries, and exhibitions.

13 val. The musical performance “Legend of Vilnius” by Antanas Vienuolis pro-gymnasium students will be held at the Seimas visitor center (Gedimino pr. 60, Vilnius).

13 val. will be held in St. Mass in Vilnius Archcathedral Basilica.

13.30 val. on March 11, free tours of the Old Town of Vilnius will begin. Online registration for guided tours in multiple languages ​​will begin on Friday, March 8. 11:00 a.m. More information here.

15 val. St. A celebratory concert “University for the City” will be held in John’s Church. Free entry. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. More information at the event.

18.30 val. the LOFTAS art factory will host an exclusive film screening “Once Upon a Time in Vilnius”, dir. Lina Luzytė and Elvina Nevardauskaitė. More information here.

20 val. On the initiative of the Cadet Council of General Jonas Žemaitis Lithuanian Military Academy, songs and memories will ring out on the historic Table Mountain by the campfire.

22.44 val. The anthem of the Republic of Lithuania will be sung on Table Mountain.
