MEXICO CITY (AP) — Midfielder Marcelo Flores has left Arsenal of the Premier League and will be a new player for Tigres of the top category in Mexico, the Mexican club announced on Sunday.
Flores, 19, has played in the English club’s youth teams since 2019 and last year he played on loan with Real Oviedo in Spain.
Tigres did not disclose the financial details of the transaction or the duration of the player’s contract.
Flores, who was born in Canada to a Mexican father, was selected nationally in age-restricted categories and in the senior team he only received a call-up for a friendly once morest Chile held in 2021.
With Arsenal he never played a first division game while at Real Oviedo in the Spanish second division he appeared in 13 games in which he failed to score goals.
Flores joins Jesús Corona (Monterrey) and Erick Gutiérrez (Chivas) as players who, following spending time in Europe, will join the Apertura 2023 tournament.
