Marcel Hug and Catherine Debrunner are in good shape. Both para-athletes won the Oita Wheelchair Marathon in Japan. In the women’s race, Manuela Schär even allowed Switzerland to achieve the double.
Hug, who had already dominated all six events at this year’s World Marathon Majors, crossed the line in 1:17:51, missing his own world record by four seconds. The Thurgovian won with around six minutes in advance.
The women’s race was much more competitive. Debrunner won his duel with Schär in a sprint. The result was so close that the Thurgau and the Lucerne were ranked at the same time in 1h35’11.
