The photo is somewhat atypical. Marc Van Ranst, a virologist whose face has become familiar since the Covid-19 pandemic, posted a funny snapshot on Twitter this Sunday.
He shares a photo of himself with his face covered in cream and writes: “This morning I was five minutes late for a conference in Bruges on pandemics on the occasion of Heritage Day because a “brave warrior” dropped a cream cake on my face.”
Next to his tart face, Marc Van Ranst exposes the cliché of the cream pie in question. The virologist, however, seems to be amused by the situation and adds: “the rest of the pie was quite tasty.”
