Marakkar and Jai Bhim shortlisted for Oscar nominations

Marakkar, directed by Priyadarshan and starring Mohanlal, is on the shortlist for the Oscar nomination. Maraikar’s name is also in the competition list released on January 21 through the official website. Only two films, Maraikkar and Jai Bhim, made it to the competition from India this time. The Oscar nominations will be announced on February 8.

‘Marakkar’, which tells the story of the sea battles of Kunjali Marakkar IV, is also the most expensive film in the history of Malayalam cinema. Directed by Priyadarshan, the film is directed by Sabu Cyril. Produced by Anthony Perumbavoor, Santosh T Kuruvila and Roy CJ under the banner of Ashirwad Cinemas, Moonshot Entertainment and Confident Group. The film stars Mohanlal, Keerthi Suresh, Sunil Shetty, Arjun Sarja, Prabhu, Mukesh, Siddique, Manju Warrier among others.

The film is set to music by Ronnie Raphael and the background music is by Rahul Raj, Ankit Suri and Lyle Evans Roader.

Most of the shooting of the film took place at Ramoji Film City. Other locations are Ooty and Rameshwaram. The post production work of the film was done abroad. Project Individu in Kochi, a leading Oscar consulting firm, has completed the process of getting the film to the Oscars.
