Mapping a Brighter Future: One Step at a Time on Camino Day

Asunción, IP Agency.- The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) commemorates “Road Day” with the firm commitment to continue working to improve the conditions of the road network, made up of 78,000 kilometers of roads throughout the country.

This October 5, Paraguay celebrates “Road Day”, a date that highlights the importance of road infrastructure in the development of the country.

With a road network of approximately 78,000 kilometers, of which: 10,300 kilometers are paved, 65,400 kilometers are dirt roads and 2,300 kilometers have been improved with gravel and paving.

The maintenance and constant improvement of these roads is a crucial issue for the MOPC due to the relevance of this network, especially in the growth of rural communities.

Local roads, for example, are considered the veins or arteries that connect to the national and departmental network, through which people and products from different rural farms are transported to consumption and marketing centers.

The Neighborhood Roads Directorate carries out maintenance throughout the departmental districts, working on approximately between 800 and 900 kilometers of roads each week.

Road Day is especially significant for road workers. A very special date for all those who dedicate their work to the construction, improvement and maintenance of the road network throughout the country.

The celebration is a reminder of the crucial role that road infrastructure plays in the economic and social development of Paraguay, as well as the need to continue investing in its improvement to ensure a prosperous and connected future for all communities.
