“MAPAQ Fines Eight Laval Restaurants for Health Code Violations”

Eight restaurants and food establishments in Laval have been fined by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPAQ) since March 3.

The total of the offenses amounts to $6,500.

Poissonnerie Sami has first received a second fine since the start of 2023 due to a heat-alterable product which has been held without cooling it or maintaining it constantly at an internal and ambient temperature not exceeding 4°C until its delivery to the consumer. This fault cost the owners $1,000.

The Ciel Bleu restaurant, which is located at 437 Cartier Boulevard West, was also fined $1,000 for committing the same offense as the fishmonger’s.

The restaurant Ciel d’Asie, located at 4355, boulevard Saint-Martin ouest, paid a fine of $1,000 because the defrosting of meat or meat products took place at an ambient temperature higher than 4°C.

From a similar fault, the market and snack bar Aux Caprices de Tous (195, boulevard de la Concorde est) had to pay $1,000 for having kept refrigerated seafood products without keeping them at an internal temperature that does not exceed 4°C.

The Fu Lam restaurant at Center Laval, at 1600 boulevard Le Corbusier, was sanctioned because the premises were not free of all species of animals, including rodents, insects or their excrement. Like the previous ones, the fine amounted to $1,000.

Other fines

Three other businesses received a notice from MAPAQ for fines amounting to more than $500.

Le Cali Poulet at 3873, boulevard Saint-Martin ouest, was penalized since a “person assigned to the preparation of products, washing or cleaning of materials and equipment did not wear a beard cover covering it entirely” , can we read.

For its part, the Elixor restaurant, which is located at 1795, rue Pierre-Péladeau, received this fine because a person wore jewelry when preparing products, washing or cleaning equipment and equipment.

The last fine was awarded to the Tifosi pizzeria, located at 3739 Lévesque Boulevard West. The owners were penalized because the equipment and materials used to prepare, store and serve the products were not considered clean.
