As “one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in China and the world in the 20th century”, Mawangdui has become a bright brand of cultural relics and archaeology in Hunan, extending the historical axis, activating historical scenes, enhancing historical credibility, and marking a new level of cultural confidence.
Mao Weiming said that the vivid practice of Mawangdui protection and development proves that promoting cultural relics to come alive and use them can make people more culturally confident. Currently, there are more than 4,000 experts and scholars devoted to the study of the Mawangdui Han Tomb, and the cumulative number of visitors to the Mawangdui Han Tomb cultural relics has exceeded 100 million. In recent years, the average annual number of visitors has reached more than 4 million. The rich achievements in the preservation and development of cultural relics have enabled people to better understand and respect history, and be inspired by more history and humanity; at the same time, it has also promoted archeology to become more popular, cultural relics to come alive, and culture to become stronger.
