Symptoms of colon cancer
1- Changes in bowel habits:
It is very common to occasionally experience changes in bowel habits. However, if it recurs, and the person has persistent diarrhea, constipation, or changes in the consistency of the stool, it might be a sign of colon cancer.
2- Sudden weight loss:
Unintentional weight loss can be a sign of many diseases, including colon cancer.
It is especially important to see a doctor if a person has lost a significant amount of weight without changing their diet or exercise routine.
3- Abdominal pains or cramps:
Persistent abdominal pain, cramping, or discomfort can be a symptom of many conditions, including colon cancer.
4- Blood in the stool:
Although finding blood in the stool can be alarming, many people consider it hemorrhoids or another harmless disease. However, it is often advised to see a doctor immediately for an examination.
5- Fatigue
Feeling tired or weak can be a symptom of many diseases, including colon cancer. Therefore, it is advised to check if you are feeling lethargic and weak as it can be a sign of fatal health problems.
6- Bleeding in the rectum:
Bleeding from the rectum or blood in the toilet following a bowel movement may be a sign of colon cancer. Hemorrhoids or fissures may also lead to rectal bleeding but do not ignore them because there may be a bigger cause for this problem.
It’s important to note that many of these symptoms can be caused by other conditions as well, and not everyone with colon cancer will experience them.
However, if any of these symptoms occur, it is important to consult a doctor. With timely intervention, colon cancer is highly treatable.
