“There is still a lot to do, here too.” At the start of a ministerial meeting, the President of the Confederation Alain Berset admitted on Friday in Montreux (VD) the need to find quick solutions to apply improvements for patient safety.

These require “the support and participation of all of us”, he told the participants. From health personnel to ministers of health, with participation by hospital directors.

In Switzerland, Mr. Berset notes the launch of the Federal Commission on the quality of care. A national system for monitoring and reducing the threat is currently in operation.

Hundreds of people have been meeting since Thursday on patient safety. They reflected on how to implement the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Patient Safety Plan from 2021 to 2030.

After the experts, the ministers and representatives of dozens of countries followed on Friday morning. A Montreux Charter must be approved at the end of this 5th summit organized with the WHO.
