Many EasyJet flights canceled due to computer failure, especially in Geneva – rts.ch

Between 200 and 400 EasyJet flights were canceled Thursday followingnoon throughout Europe, and in particular in Geneva, following a computer problem. The British airline assures that the situation is on the way to being resolved.

In the middle of the long Ascension weekend, many travelers were disillusioned Thursday at Geneva airport. “It’s a nightmare to be honest. We are a football team of 21 people. We were supposed to go to Mallorca and EasyJet canceled our flight”, explains a companion in the 7:30 p.m.

“We checked in and put our suitcases in the hold. We went through security, we went around the shops and when we found the boarding gate, we were told the flight was leaving at 3:35 p.m. Then suddenly, it appeared ‘cancelled'”, testifies a young woman who was going to Barcelona for the weekend with a friend.

Friday flights also affected

According to the British company’s official response, “EasyJet has encountered a computer system problem. This means that flights scheduled to depart between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. may have been affected”. Additional information arrived a few hours later: “We plan to operate most of our remaining flights, however some may be disrupted in the coming hours.”

In total, between 200 and 400 flights were canceled Thursday followingnoon across Europe. Friday flights might also be affected.

On Twitter, EasyJet invites its passengers to “check the status” of their flights on its website.
