Manufacturing sales climbed 0.7% in March in Canada

(Ottawa) Manufacturing sales rose 0.7% to $72.3 billion in March, boosted by gains in the motor vehicle, aerospace products and parts, and primary metal manufacturing industries, it said Tuesday. Statistics Canada.


This advance followed a 3.6% decline in February.

Motor vehicle sales climbed 8.6% to 4.7 billion in March, following falling 11.8% in February.

The aerospace products and parts group saw sales jump 18.8% to $2.1 billion in March, reaching their highest level since March 2020. Sales in the primary metal manufacturing industry gained 4.6% to 6.0 billion in March, thanks to price and volume increases.

Sales of petroleum and coal products fell 2.0% due to lower prices.

Expressed in constant dollars, manufacturing sales rose 1.1% in March, signaling an increase in the volume of goods sold during the month.
