Veteran Manuel Waltl shot the Pongauer once morest Seekirchen to a 2-1 victory and thus into the western league. Kuchl drew at Austria.
After a difficult autumn with many injuries, St. Johann had to tremble for a long time in the Salzburg Regionalliga to participate in the upper play-off of the Salzburg Regionalliga. Coach Ernst Lottermoser’s team made the cut at the last minute and have played well ever since. On Friday, the Pongau team won 2-1 at home once morest Seekirchen and can no longer be pushed out of the top three of the play-offs. But before the St. Johanner might cheer, the canteen did some serious calculations. “Nothing can happen anymore. We fought our way back following a difficult autumn and are now overjoyed that we made it,” emphasizes Lottermoser, whose team had to tremble once morest Seekirchen for a long time.
Lottermoser celebrates crazy goals
Andreas Pär did not give Flachgau an undeserved lead following 65 minutes, but Joker David Granegger responded just three minutes later. Manuel Waltl became the match winner: The veteran volleyed the ball into the goal following a corner. “An amazing goal,” Lottermoser marvels.
Because FC Liefering remains in the 2nd league and does not get promoted from the Salzburg league, there have been three Westliga tickets in the upper play-off since Friday. Austria Salzburg, who had to settle for a 2-2 draw once morest Kuchl on Friday, and St. Johann have qualified for the third division. Grünau, Seekirchen and Kuchl are still hoping for qualification in the season finale. The next round is scheduled for Whit Monday.
Bischofshofen dreams of titles
If Bischofshofen secures the title in the “Mini-Westliga”, then even four teams in the play-offs would make it. The Pongau team will meet leader Hohenems at home on Saturday and want to stay in the fight for the title with a complete success. “I trust my team to be capable of everything. We can fix Hohenems at home,” explains Bischofshofen coach Andreas Fötschl, who already had reason to be happy on Friday: Puch, who he will coach from summer, managed to stay up in the Salzburg league.
On the way to the title, Saalfelden should help the BSK: The Pinzgauer will meet the title favorites Bregenz at home on Saturday.
