  • Thanks to four victories and 715 points collected, Manuel Feller takes the slalom ball and thus fulfills a lifelong dream.
  • After the last race of the season, the 31-year-old lets it rip until early in the morning and reveals that the party lasted until “3 a.m.”.
  • During the celebrations, however, Feller lost sight of the ball he had won, but fortunately he can rely on his physiotherapist.

Manuel Feller is the best slalom skier of the current World Cup winter. The Austrian wins four times in ten races in his flagship discipline and always ranks among the top five. In total, he collected 715 points – more than any of his competitors.

The well-deserved reward for the strong season: winning the small crystal ball. Last Sunday after the last slalom of the season, Feller was able to receive the object of his desire in the finish area in Saalbach. This is apparently the beginning of a wild victory party.

“If you don’t celebrate something like that…”

Feller reveals this on “Sport and Talk in Hangar 7” on Servus TV, although he assures that the celebration actually didn’t last that long. “Hungry until 3 a.m.,” says Feller, indicating that he enjoyed his time with his team to the fullest: “If you don’t celebrate something like that…”

However, over the course of the evening, the exceptional artist loses sight of the crystal ball he has captured – and only in the morning does he wonder where it is. Luckily, a call from the physiotherapist quickly clarified things: “Do you actually know that your ball is in our bed?”

“Fortunately they (the physios, editor’s note) were paying attention,” said Feller, who was able to receive his undamaged trophy again a short time later. “The ball didn’t have any scratches, it still looks good,” says the slalom king with relief, but admits that the ball didn’t come back from its night-time trip without any traces: “I had to wash it first…”
