‘Mant Murad’: A Tale of Two Extremes

‘Love takes away life.’ In the play ‘Mant Murad’, all kinds of love are made with a lot of pampering.

It has also been shown that what you call pampering, love, protection and respect, these are obstacles in the path of life, stop the breath of a person and take away the ability to think and understand, leading to a wrong and emotional decision.

The story of a big family system is going on. There are families of four or five siblings. The lightness and heaviness of life are all present in the play. The story is not dragging any one aspect, but all the black and white colors of life are fully present in it.

Heroine Mant is the only sister of four brothers and Murad on the other hand is the only brother of four sisters. Both are obviously children with vows. Manat’s parents have passed away. Murad’s father has passed away. Culturally, there is a world of difference between the two.

Both of them belong to the upper middle class and the deprivations of both of them are to some extent taking the story from the attraction called love to marriage, but both of them are forced to get this legitimate right with the help of lies. Relationships that have problems in their foundation will only create thorns.

Murad’s family is a zamindar family of Punjab and settled in Karachi, while Mant’s family belongs to Khusrau’s Bachi Kachi culture. On both sides, the tradition seems to be alive in every situation. It is not a very stifling environment, but there is also no freedom to live and understand each other.

Murad’s mother, Razia Sultana, is always in doubt regarding her only son. A son can’t do anything, he can’t even wear perfume, in such a situation, how can daughters take a decision, but one daughter revolts and gets court marriage of her own choice, her husband Faisal is a good choice. Proves.

The elder sister is married off by Murad’s mother to her nephew Shaukat, who is a gambler and brother Murad is forced to run the sister’s house. Although the results of both marriage of choice and marriage of parents’ choice are visible here, Razia Sultana’s ego justifies her mistake.

One of the sisters, Fathizah, has fallen victim to depression due to her mother’s stubbornness and coming out of marriage, while the other is still young.

In such a case, the only earner son, on whom the mother has set all conscious and unconscious eyes, wants to marry him only because he may not marry according to his choice, but if he marries, he will cheat the mother emotionally. He is going to do it of his own accord.

Mant’s two half brothers have also got married. If the elder brother did not marry following the death of the parents, it is the responsibility of the younger siblings. One brother plays cricket, one lives abroad. Manta has a sister-in-law, but is more like her mother and friend.

Mant wants to pursue a career following her studies, but her elder brother does not allow her to get a job. It is very difficult to get an internship and the hero also becomes a lover on the first day.

What a person is afraid of, it comes in front of him in one form or another. Now Mant’s elder brother wants to marry her, but like Murad’s mother, they will refuse Mant’s choice.

These are two extremes, in which life becomes difficult indeed.

First of all, the parents or siblings of this psychology want from a subconscious box that their children or siblings never get married because they are used to ruling and they think that they are better than them. One cannot think for loved ones, even though they are actually causing the most trouble for themselves.

To some extent, the deprivations of both of them are taking the story from the attraction called love to marriage, but both of them are forced to get this legitimate right with the help of lies. Relationships that have problems in their foundation will only create thorns.

Mant’s falling in love with Murad is to some extent a reaction to her brother’s strictness in love that Murad gives her a dream of a free and happy environment, but a dream is a dream and a cowardly man can only dream so that Get the girl. A brave man does not dream.

Now a man like Murad uses all his strength here because his mother’s oppressive nature does not work. This is the reason why all kinds of brave men are liked in the society, who can do something for himself, can take his own decisions, he can also take the responsibility of marriage.

Ursa Ghazal has got a lot of popularity in the role of Razia Sultana. With his get-up and Urdu-Punjabi accent, he has definitely given a unique color to the character, but he does not have the look of Chaudhryan of Punjab, who has turned many serious aspects of the story into comedy. The rest of the characters and the social tragedy are also buried in it.

Basically it’s a psychological character with five lives at stake and their self-esteem constantly being undermined. This is such a social character, who is neither happy themselves nor can see others happy.

The director is Syed Wajahat Hussain and this The drama Broadcasting on Jio TV.

When we spoke to writer Nadia Akhtar regarding the play, she said: ‘The story started to turn into comedy, so the director supported her by saying that he wanted to work on a story where both the boy and the girl are from different backgrounds. And become one. Due to the sense of ownership, this house cannot be settled.’

He said that ‘this is a story in which there will be no unexpected twists, the story will run in small situations and events.’

Razia Sultana’s character is a lively character. This does not happen only in the case of mothers. In many families, there will be fathers and older siblings who make it haram for their children and siblings to live with their unnecessary expectations.

Murad’s role will also be found in every home. Sharing the attention and affection of a son is difficult even for an educated woman. Keeping mother and wife equally happy is not possible for a hero. It’s such a character.’
