At the start of the year, a chain of florists hosted by Manor had to close half of its stores following financial difficulties. Employees then denounced catastrophic management. And according to several employees, the situation has not changed since: they complain regarding schedules provided at the last minute, breaks not respected and salaries which are often delayed. In recent months, LPP contributions are no longer even paid. In mid-November, the lawsuits once morest the company totaled hundreds of thousands of francs.

A few days following the visit of the Valais Service for Worker Protection and Labor Relations to one of the flower shops, Manor was clear: “It has been decided that the partnership between Manor and Inspiration Plante would end,” declared, in At the beginning of the week, the company is active in retail, but without explaining the reasons for this decision.

“A relief”

With the closure of the last three stores hosted by the major brand, in Sierre, Monthey (VS) and Fribourg, eight employees find themselves out of work. But several of them, in distress, speak of “a victory, a relief”. “We were manipulated. It had to stop,” say those who deplore the management of the company, in general, and who regret that the situation has not improved. Among the former employees, several have launched legal proceedings for unpaid salaries.

“She never denied these problems”

These “assertions are hotly contested. My client has never denied these problems and she has taken all measures to remedy them,” declared Marc-André Mabillard, the lawyer for the director of the florist chain Carole Curdy, a few days before the announcement of the termination of the partnership with Manor. “For more than a year, there have been no more internal complaints which have not been heard and for which a solution has not been found in agreement with the employees,” added the lawyer.

Interviewed in January, the main person concerned described a difficult situation due to Covid, multiple price increases and a change in consumption. “We are in the process of getting back on track. This cannot be done in two days,” she added in mid-November. However, two boutique workshops remain in Valais.
