Manoj Tiwary following his lone ODI 100.
Kolkata: Former India cricketer and now West Bengal Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs Manoj Tiwari has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket.
Tiwary, who has played 12 ODIs and two T20 matches for India, contested the West Bengal Assembly elections and became a member of Mamata Banerjee’s cabinet while remaining active in cricket. Tiwari took over from his predecessor Lakshmi Ratan Shukla in Bengal and the Indian team. Currently MLA from Shibpur constituency.
Tiwary returned to the Bengal team at the age of 37 this past domestic season and reached the Ranji Trophy final. This final was his last first-class match, losing to Saurashtra.
Manoj Tiwary has scored 287 runs in 12 ODIs. This includes his century once morest the West Indies in 2011. After this match, Tiwary did not get a chance in 14 consecutive ODIs. On his return, he scored 65 runs and took two wickets in two matches, but was subsequently dropped.
