Manny Machado Makes History: Tying the Record for Most Home Runs at Petco Park

2023-06-16 19:53:43

Manny Machado made history with his three-run homer against the Guardians Thursday night in San Diego.

Machado’s 65th career home run at Petco Park tied him with Mexican Adrián González for the most homers in the history of the stadium, which opened in 2004.

Machado is the latest National League hitter to set or come close to a stadium record in 2023. Pete Alonso’s 21st home run on June 4 gave him 72 lifetimes at Citi Field, home of the Mets , breaking a tie with Lucas Duda to grab the most there. And with one more home run in Atlanta, Ronald Acuña Jr. will match the Truist Parl record of 70 held by Freddie Freeman.

But as prodigious as Machado, Alonso and Acuña have been in their still young careers, none of them rank among the hitters who truly dominated in one park. The following gunboats are the ones that dribbled the most times in the history of the AL / NL in the same park:

Most home runs in the same stadium

1. Mel Ott, Polo Grounds (New York): 323
2. Sammy Sosa, Wrigley Field: 293
3. Ernie Banks, Wrigley Field: 290
4. Mickey Mantle, Yankee Stadium: 266
5. Mike Schmidt, Veterans Stadium (Filadelfia): 265
6. Frank Thomas, Guaranteed Rate Field: 263
7-E. Paul Konerko, Guaranteed Rate Field: 259
7-E. Babe Ruth, Yankee Stadium, 259
9. Stan Musial, Busch Stadium, 252
10. Lou Gehrig, Yankee Stadium, 251
