Manner-Wafferl: Confectionery manufacturer increased profits in the first half of the year

The Viennese confectionery manufacturer Manner increased its sales in the first half of 2024 by around 8 million euros to 131.8 million euros compared to the same period last year. In terms of profits, the company managed to move from the red figures in the first half of 2023 back into the green: the period result turned from minus 0.2 million to now positive 2.34 million euros. The operating result doubled to 1.66 million euros. The export quota rose slightly.

The raw materials market has been in turmoil for some time now and this is a particular concern for the wafer manufacturer. After all, cocoa and hazelnuts are needed for the products. When announcing the latest company figures on Friday, Manner also announced that the second half of the year would continue to see “a very volatile situation, particularly due to the turbulence on the raw materials market in the cocoa and hazelnut sectors.” Prices there have recently risen sharply.

The ongoing inflation is also an issue – not only because of the price increase itself, but because it is also changing customers’ purchasing behavior and reducing their purchasing power. Otherwise, it was said that new products were successfully introduced in the first half of the year. For the 2024 financial year, only a slight increase in sales and operating profit is expected compared to 2023.
