Maniema: 26 cases of yellow fever recorded in 10 months

The province of Maniema has notified, since last January, 26 cases of yellow fever including one death.

The doctor in charge of the EPI-Maniema branch, Dr. Omari Walumba delivered these statistics on Tuesday, November 15, in Kindu.

It was during the advocacy meeting for the organization of the preventive campaign once morest yellow fever in this province.

Dr. Omari Walumba explains that through this meeting, the EPI wanted to mobilize funds to fill the gap of more than 37,000 USD in order to better organize the said campaign.

On the occasion, he requested the involvement and commitment of the participants in the implementation of this yellow fever preventive campaign.

“To organize this campaign we need human and financial resources. Through the mobilization of resources made at the level of different partners, a gap emerged and this gap should be filled by the local mobilization of resources, this is how we also shared the gap that will have to be try to mobilize locally so that we can organize a quality campaign throughout the province of Maniema”said Dr. Omari Walumba.

The representatives of the health zone teams in Maniema took part last August in the workshop to defend and consolidate the micro-planning of the preventive campaign once morest yellow fever.
