The pursuit was carried out at low speed due to traffic in the area, following a license plate reader at 45th Street and Second Avenue detected the maroon Hyundai unit that had been reported stolen on July 31 in the Bronx .

“He stepped on the accelerator, the bus went by and he crashed into the yellow cab,” a witness told CBS News. In addition, he recounted that following hitting that rental vehicle, the car that caused the incident “went to the sidewalk and hit people in the street.”

Then he rode the vehicle on the sidewalk and when he entered the intersection between 42nd and Lexington he ran over several pedestrians. He started driving the vehicle in the wrong direction, in Lexington, and collided with another vehicle.”

The New York Fire Department reported that EMS (Emergency Medical Technicians) personnel “transported 10 patients with non-life threatening injuries to local hospitals.”

A week ago, another serious episode shook downtown New York, in the Hudson Yards neighborhood, very close to Madison Square Garden, on 10th Avenue and 41st Street, when part of a crane structure collapsed from the 45th floor of a building under construction and six people were injured.

Several passers-by filmed the exact moment in which the crane cabin caught fire and part of the structure broke in two and fell into the void from more than 100 meters high.
