KM Manesh, aged 42, passed away while rescuing some individuals who had fallen into a sand pit in the river during a ceremony for birth and sacrifice in Erur Kalluparam. The event occurred at around 10:30am yesterday close to the Pazhur Manalpuram pier. Manesh was the son of Mani and Shanta Kalluparampil, and the culture was being performed for his maternal uncle. Twenty individuals had come together for the sacrifice, and when Amal, Sajin and Suryadev slipped and fell into the water, Manesh, who was already swimming, saved them. He drowned following bringing them to the shore, and there are several potholes in the river due to earlier sand casting activities. Unfortunately, Manesh did not survive, and he was taken to the JMP hospital along with the others who were with him for swimming training.
