Mandalika Circuit Still Hosts MotoGP This Year

PT Pengembangan Pariwisata Indonesia (ITDC) stated that the payment of hosting fees to Dorna Sport is in process and it is certain that the Indonesian GP at the Mandalika Circuit, 27-29 September 2024 will still be held.

“MotoGP hosting fee payments are quite supportive. This means that the race is certain to continue,” said Chairman of the 2024 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia (MotoGPTM) Troy Warokka in Central Lombok, Wednesday (18/9).

He said the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) was paying special attention to MotoGP hosting fees.

In addition, the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy is planned to again provide support for the Indonesian GP event at the Mandalika Circuit.

“We continue to work to get support for this hosting fee source. It can be paid before the race or after the race, there is no problem from Dorna Sport,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to the Central Lombok regional government which has had the idea to support the payment of free hosting of the Indonesian GP event, although it has not been officially announced.

In addition, preparations for the 2024 Indonesian GP have reached 95 percent and are certain to run well, because this event will not only be held this year, but has been held previously.

“This means that only 5 percent remains and the execution is left, technically there is no problem,” he said.

He said that the Indonesian GP did not belong to the organizers, but was for the progress of Indonesia and to support the economic growth of the community and increase tourism.

“The MotoGP event at the Mandalika Circuit is a showcase to show Indonesia’s greatness,” he said.

Ticket sales for the Indonesian GP event have so far reached 45 percent of the total target audience and VIP tickets have been sold out.

“We are optimistic that ticket sales will increase ahead of the race,” he said.

Meanwhile, MGPA President Director Priandhi said the process of repainting the track’s curbstones aims to beautify the Mandalika Circuit track and the painting process has been completed.

“The repainting of the Mandalika Circuit track has been completed and we are still cleaning the track,” he said.

Preparation for the Indonesian MotoGP event is not only carried out on the track, but also includes maintenance and arrangement of electronic equipment such as Digital Flag, Timing System, CCTV Circuit, Start/Finish LED and various other devices.

“The preparation of the Mandalika Circuit track has been completed,” he said. (Z-6)
